Villanelle Poem

Inside a glass each grain of sand will shower,

trickling down, a mound will be its bed.

The pelting of a million specks will soon become an hour.

One by one each speck will fall to make a rising tower,

down narrow path, each trickling morsel’s led;

inside a glass each grain of sand will shower.

A silent humming, soundless drumming power

is deafening from Times foreboding dread;

the pelting of a million specks will soon become an hour.

Despair ensues as Time, the sands devour.

Crippled in disparity, Depressions path is tread;

inside a glass each grain of sand will shower.

Simply put, forgotten time can turn a man to cower.

Without remorse, no recourse is found for Love has fled.

The pelting of a million specks will soon become an hour.

Time well spent will bud like growing flower;

a sweet repast consumed from stories read.

Inside a glass each grain of sand will shower;

the pelting of a million specks will soon become an hour.
